Hello. This is where I'm meant to tell you all about me. My name is Kacey, and I am a 40-something, stay-at-home, home-school Mom. I absolutely love all-things-country, vintage, animal and God's amazing grace! My family and I live on Friendly Acres, a 45 acre farm in Southern Colorado where we have a menagerie of furred and feathered "therapists" who help us provide inspiration, entertainment and healing through our animal ministry.
In my former life, I was a professional athlete and Olympic hopeful in the sport of show jumping. These days, I write about what I love and what I've learned along my very interesting course of life.
My blogging was inspired by my love of writing and all the things listed above! I am an MS and TBI warrior , and I am committed to learning and implementing all I can about a healthy lifestyle.
In this new differently-abled phase of my life, I am needing to do life differently; more simply. "Old-school" ways are something I've always been passionate about. In keeping with this passion, I am learning about alternative (disability-accommodating) ways to garden, as well as learning about canning, holistic remedies, making my own non-toxic cleaners and more.
My favorite views are those from the back of my therapy horse, Maverick. He gives me legs and the ability to get out into the healing of nature when my own legs fail me. He also helps other brain injury survivors through our equine ministry, helping them re-build broken pathways through musical equine therapy. The Equine Ability Program
Friendly Acres, the little homestead on the hill
Here at Friendly Acres, you'll find dogs, cats, budgies, goats, chickens, horses, an adorable pony who will stick his head in your car window as you pull up our drive, and even a crazy cockatoo named, Pearl (who probably deserves a blog of her own!)
Animals play a huge part in our lives; and the others' lives they touch through our ministry. Most all of our animals are therapy certified and visit schools, churches, fairs, and other events around the country through my motivational speaking programs.
We also open up our farm to occasional visitors who need therapy, a little time "away from it all," or just need to get found again.
So won't you please join me on my new "simple" journey and invite your friends to do the same? Want to submit a post? I welcome your insight and wisdom! Please email submissions/ideas to: KaceyHadenough@gmail.com ! Do you have a similar type of blog and want to collaborate? Let's combine forces! I look forward to our journey together.
